Shirley J. King Wallace, a beloved homemaker and devoted mother, passed away on May 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on July 20, 1939, Shirley was raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she attended local public schools including Rosa A. Temple High School. Her dedication to her family and community was a defining aspect of her life.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee (Shug) King and Elease Harper of Edwards, Mississippi, her husband Freddie Wallace, her sisters Louise Smith Lee and Mary Giles, and a cherished grandson, Jamaal Stowers. Their memory remains deeply ingrained in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by a large and loving family who were the center of her world: her sons Clyde King and John Wayne King, the latter with his wife Tamara; daughters Carol King, Donzia King-Clark with her husband Bobby, Angela King, and Bridgette King. Shirley also leaves behind her Godson, Aric Shells; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by one niece, several nephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends who will dearly miss her presence.
The family will honor Shirley's memory with a visitation on May 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi, 39180. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, May 30, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
Shirley’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her home and family, her nurturing spirit, and her enduring love. She will be fondly remembered for the warmth and care she showed to all who were fortunate enough to know her. As family and friends gather to celebrate her life, they commemorate a woman whose impact will resonate through generations. May she rest in peace.
