Ruby Gail Franklin

A Life of Faith, Love, and Devotion

Ruby Gail Franklin entered this world on August 9, 1963, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was a cherished blessing entrusted by God to the late Mr. Jessie Franklin and Mrs. Ruby West Franklin. From her earliest years, Ruby displayed a caring heart, a courageous spirit, and a deep devotion to those she loved. Her gracious presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

At an early age, Ruby gave her life to Jesus Christ at Travelers Rest Baptist Church. Under the spiritual guidance of the Reverend Joe Williams, she established a firm foundation in the Christian faith. Her relationship with God remained a source of comfort, wisdom, and strength throughout her journey. In times of celebration and hardship alike, she trusted in His grace and held firmly to His promises.

Ruby was educated in the Vicksburg Public School System and proudly belonged to the Vicksburg High School Class of 1981. Her friendly nature, radiant smile, and unforgettable laughter made others feel immediately at ease. Ruby embraced life wholeheartedly and delighted in spending time with relatives and friends. She loved telling stories, listening to music, dancing, and filling each gathering with happiness. With a heart always open to others, she freely offered assistance, encouragement, and kindness whenever they were needed.

The center of Ruby's world was her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends brought immeasurable joy to her life. Family occasions were especially meaningful because they gave her opportunities to share affection, laughter, and treasured moments with the people closest to her heart. To Ruby, family was among God's most precious gifts.

Ruby had a special way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and valued. Whether preparing a meal, speaking an uplifting word, sharing a joyful laugh, or simply sitting beside someone who needed companionship, she gave generously of herself. As a devoted mother, she took tremendous pride in her children. She deeply adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured the time they shared. Her life will continue to be remembered as a beautiful example of faith, courage, generosity, compassion, and unconditional love.

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, Ruby answered the Master's call and peacefully exchanged her earthly home for her eternal residence. With her earthly assignment fulfilled, she entered the presence of her Savior, surrounded by His everlasting mercy and grace.

Awaiting Ruby's arrival in eternity were her beloved parents, Jessie and Ruby Franklin; her grandmother, Emma Franklin; her grandfather, Lucius West; her cherished grandson, Derico Davis; and her precious great-nephew, Kealen DeRhon Andrews. She was also reunited with her loving aunts, Deloris West Thomas, Bernice Franklin, Mary Frances Williams, Mary Eastman Moran, Irene Williams, Claudie Wright, and Alice Franklin; her devoted uncles, James Franklin, Willie West, Davis West, and Ernest Stevenson; and many other loved ones and friends who preceded her in death. Although her departure has left an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing that Ruby is at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Ruby's memory will continue to be lovingly preserved by her devoted companion, Calvin O'Quinn; her treasured children, LeDell Franklin, Jermaine Franklin, Otis Davis Jr., Michael Franklin, LaShunda Franklin-Robinson (Gregory), and LaJune L. Franklin, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; her loving aunt, Burnella Green Tyler (Peter); and her uncles, James Elbert Franklin of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Charles Larkin of Moreno Valley, California.

She also leaves her cherished sisters, LaJune Clay-Scott, Debra Sampson, and Eunice M. Polk, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Harriet Polk-Moore of Chicago, Illinois; and Michelle Franklin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Terry Franklin (MarMae) of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Darrell Franklin (Sharon) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and an extended circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and treasured friends, including Sharon Jones-King.
