Bill began his career as a diesel mechanic with American Bakeries even before graduating from high school. His unwavering commitment to his profession saw him through 38 years with the company before he retired. In addition to his vocational achievements, Bill proudly served in the National Guard, and he was honorably discharged in 1964, a testament to his dedication to service.

Bill was a man of few words, yet his silence spoke volumes to those he held dear. He left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him, particularly his beloved family with whom he shared countless memories.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Sarah Swartz, and his eldest son, William Douglas of Lexington, South Carolina. He was also preceded by two siblings, Frank of Sarasota, Florida, and Becky of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Roy William Swartz’s quiet strength and enduring love will be profoundly missed but always remembered by those who loved him. His life was a gentle reminder of the power of commitment, and he will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
