Roosevelt Jones, Jr., fondly known as "Tinker," passed away on May 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and cherished memories with family and friends. Born on April 28, 1975, Tinker was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend, whose life was marked by a deep commitment to those he loved and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew him.

Tinker was educated locally, attending Edwards Attendance Center before continuing his studies at Hinds AHS in Utica, Mississippi. His early faith journey began at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at a young age, grounding his life in spiritual strength and grace.

Professionally, Tinker held multiple titles throughout his career, most recently working at the Airfield in Edwards, Mississippi until health concerns necessitated his departure. His dedication and work ethic were evident in every role he undertook, reflecting a man of resilience and integrity.

Beyond his professional life, Tinker lived life with vibrant enthusiasm and passion. He found joy in fishing, cooking, tending to his plants, and engaging in lively games of cards, dominoes, and board games with his family and close friends. These moments of laughter and companionship were the heart of his existence, illustrating a man who cherished connection and the simple pleasures of life.

Tinker is survived by those who hold his memory dear: his two children, Anfernee (Anne) Jones of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Brandon Moore of Tupelo, Mississippi; his father, Roosevelt Jones, Sr., of Edwards, Mississippi; two sisters, Teia L. Jones of Edwards, Mississippi, and LaToya Mack-Tucker (Corney) of Texas; and his brother, Ronny D. Jones of Nebraska. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren—Alaina Jones, Gabrielle Stephens, and Malachi Moore—as well as eight nephews—Tyrese R. Burroughs, Tanari D. Stewart, Donald Tucker, DeRon Jones, Ronny Jones, Jr., Zurye Jones, Zhyan Jones, and Zamar Jones.

His extended family includes twelve aunts: Shirley Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Brenda Mabry (Johnny) of Jackson, Mississippi; Barbara Bridges (Donald) of Ridgeland, Mississippi; Janice Burrell (Jonathan) of California; Mary Marshall (Lee) of Bolton, Mississippi; Sadie Harris, Annie Henderson, Hattie Kirkland, Arnell Wilson—all from Jackson, Mississippi; Joyce Woodhouse (Richard) of Edwards, Mississippi; Carrie Johnson (Willie) of Terry, Mississippi; and Elise Beacham of Edwards, Mississippi. Additionally, six uncles survive him: Michael Funches of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Gerone Funches (Candace) of California; Gregory Tatum (Carolyn), Columbus Jones, Jr., and Curtis “Snookie” Armstrong, all of Edwards, Mississippi. He is also remembered by a host of cousins, relatives, and friends who will carry forward his memory with affection and respect.

Tinker was preceded in death by his mother, Annette T. Jones; grandparents Fannie L. Funches, JW “Touch Hog” Wilson, Lucille Epps Jones, and Columbus Jones, Sr.; and great-grandparents Sallie A. Thomas and Bob Thomas. Their legacy and love continue to shine through him and the lives he touched.

Family, friends, and all who knew Roosevelt "Tinker" Jones, Jr. are invited to gather for visitation on June 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi. His funeral service will follow on June 6, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at the same location.

As we remember Tinker’s vibrant spirit, his unwavering faith, and his commitment to family, we hold close the warmth of his smile and the many joyful moments he gifted to all who loved him. His legacy will undoubtedly endure in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him family and friend. May he rest in peace.
