Roderick Ray Burden, Sr., a devoted father, brother, and friend, departed this world on December 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by many. Born on May 5, 1974, Roderick was a proud graduate of Vicksburg High School, Class of 1993, and he carried the values instilled in him through his education throughout his life.
Roderick dedicated his career to the field of safety, serving as a Foreman for Safety Attendance with JCL Safety Services. A hardworking and dedicated man, he was respected for his leadership, dependability, and unwavering commitment to workplace safety, always looking out for others. His colleagues admired him not only for his professional skills but also for the camaraderie and support he offered in the workplace.
Life for Roderick was rich with meaning found in simplicity. He enjoyed hanging out and having fun, finding joy in the moments spent with family and friends. A man of integrity, he valued loyalty and honesty, forging genuine connections that spanned across his years.
Roderick's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by those who knew him. He is survived by his loving stepmother, Earnestine Dulaney, his twin sister, Roslyn Burrell, siblings Rene Burden, Annie Horton, Billy Burden, and Kenneth Bracey, and his beloved children, Roderick Burden, Jr. and DeQuante Burden. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his aunts and uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other loving relatives and friends who will treasure the memories they made together.
Roderick was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Bell Burden and M.C. Dulaney, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
The impact of his life will resound through the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him, and he will be commemorated in a Visitation on December 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, MS. A Celebration of Life will follow on December 21, 2025, at the Vicksburg Convention Center from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Roderick Ray Burden, Sr. will be remembered not only for the roles he played in life but for the love he shared so generously with others.
