Nellie Rose (Nicholson Cox) Strong

Nellie Rose (Nicholson Cox) Strong, born August 29, 1958, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, entered eternal glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 7, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Cox and the late Patricia Ann (Nicholson) Cox, and was named in honor of her Great-Great Grandmother, Nellie Nicholson Johnson. She was the eldest of fifteen children and embraced her role with grace, strength, and unwavering love.

Nellie Rose received her education through both St. Mary’s Catholic School and the Vicksburg Public School System. As a young woman, she met the love of her life, the late Henry Strong, whom she later married. Their union was blessed with two children: Henry Nicholson (Anita) and Angela Nicholson Trevillion (Marcus).

Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Aaliyah Nicholson and Derrius Nicholson, whom she cherished deeply and lovingly referred to as the joy of her life.

Nellie Rose’s legacy is one of devotion—devotion to her family, her faith, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her steadfast love, and her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and seen.
