Michael Dewayne Lyons

Michael Dewayne Lyons, born on January 20, 1983, passed away on October 12, 2025. His time with us, though too short, was filled with warmth, laughter, and the love of family and friends. Michael was a cherished son, father, brother, and friend whose legacy lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Michael is survived by his father, Dewitt Thomas (Cheryl) of Vicksburg, MS; his son, Kailip Franklin of Memphis, TN; and his daughters, Caeley Stringer of Monticello, MS, Jariah Page, Tyliah McGowan, and Angel Lyons of Vicksburg, MS, as well as Trashonna Jackson from Dallas, Texas. He will also be remembered by his brother, Benjamin Lyons of South Carolina; his stepbrothers, Cornell Miles and Tremayne Tair of Vicksburg, MS; and his sisters, Carolyn Gibbs (John), Betty Lyons, and Kayla Thomas of Vicksburg, MS. Additionally, he is survived by his stepsisters, Latasha Smith and Kiaria Tair of Vicksburg, MS, along with a host of family members including the Thomas and Freeman families, who will miss him deeply.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Marie Lyons; his daughter Jamyia Marie Lyons; sisters, Angela Lyons and Yolanda Lyons; his maternal grandparents, Henry Lyons and Willie B. Lyons; and his paternal grandparents, Ernestine Thomas and Dewitt Thomas, Sr. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him.

A visitation to celebrate Michael's life will be held on October 17, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, the family will be present from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180. His funeral service will follow the next day, October 18, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at the same location.
