Melvin Martez Harris

Melvin Martez Harris, Sr. born on October 17, 1993, in Vicksburg, MS, left this world on August 31, 2025. His presence was felt by all who knew him, as he was well-known and much-loved, making a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Melvin's radiant smile could brighten even the dimmest of days, and his infectious laughter was a source of joy for many. He possessed a huge heart that poured love and kindness into the lives of family and friends alike. Education was important to him, and he attended school in Vicksburg and Port Gibson, MS, ultimately achieving his GED in 2013, a testament to his perseverance and determination.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Tammy Lynn Harris, and his cherished son, Melvin Martez Harris Jr. "MJ." Also mourning his loss are his siblings, Cherelle Harris, Quvorris "Main" Harris, and Brittney Bryant, alongside Sha'Cortney Reed (Christian Brooks) of Houston, TX, and Adrian Cox Jr. of Jackson, MS.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Cox Sr., and his paternal grandparents, Harry Cox and Flora Celestine Becks. He was also preceded by his maternal grandparents, Melvin and Daisy Harris.

The memory of Melvin Martez Harris, Sr.  will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him, a bright light extinguished too soon, yet his spirit will continue to resonate through the laughter and smiles of those he leaves behind.
