Mary Ann Coffee, a beloved member of the Vicksburg community, peacefully entered her eternal rest on February 15, 2026, at Merit Health River Region Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family. She was born on February 22, 1941, to her loving parents, the late Henrietta and Manuel Peters.

Mary Ann dedicated 25 years of service to the Vicksburg Warren School District, where she worked faithfully until retiring in 2018 due to illness. Her kindness, work ethic, and gentle spirit touched countless lives.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann's faith played an essential role. She accepted Christ at an early age, and her unwavering belief remained steadfast. On January 31, she became a proud member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church, reaffirming her commitment to the Lord she loved.

Mary Ann leaves behind cherished memories and a loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Coffee of Vicksburg, MS, and her bonus daughter, Denise Ward, also of Vicksburg. Her legacy continues through her three sisters: Thelma Peters of Vicksburg, MS; Annie Mae Sayles and Bessie Mae Sayles, both of Jackson, MS. She is further remembered by her granddaughter, Taylor Coffee of Hattiesburg, MS, and her bonus granddaughters, Deniah Brown and Brodjhani Aikerson, both of Vicksburg, MS. Additionally, her bonus grandsons, Ian Ward and Josiah “JB” Brown, also of Vicksburg, bring joy to her memory. She had two goddaughters, Roshonda (Tommie) Powers and Delena King, both residing in Douglasville, GA.

Mary Ann is also lovingly remembered by her nieces: Yvonne Byther, Nona Robinson; and Doris Benson, all of Jackson, MS., and one great niece: Felicia Peters; nephews: Emmanuel Benson, Alvin Benson and Michael Sharp, all of Jackson, and her extended family including Andre Carter of Vicksburg, MS, Kimberly Graves Cassidy of Jackson, MS, Moniquie “Nikki” Anderson, Xavier Richards and Lena Robertson all of Vicksburg, MS and Lashanda Jones of Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Elease Crudup; two nephews, Anthony Peters and Elloitt Darryl Benson; two nieces, Carolyn Lee and Cynthia Peters-Hunter; and her best friend, Lena Mae Robinson.

Mary Ann Coffee will be remembered for her generous spirit, her deep-rooted faith, and her tireless dedication to family and community. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
