Lola Mae Crumb Hughes, born on October 10, 1956, peacefully departed this life on December 7, 2025. An integral member of the Vicksburg community, she dedicated herself to her role as a food service cook worker one marked by compassion and kindness, particularly evident during her time at the Vicksburg Convalescent Home. There, she met many new friends who became like family, embodying the spirit of connection and support. Lola was known for her unwavering compassion, often becoming a voice for those who needed it most. She found joy in participating in various activities and church services, contributing to a sense of community and camaraderie among her fellow residents.

Educated within the Vicksburg Warren County Public School System, Lola possessed a warm personality that was reflected in her hobbies. She cherished fishing and cooking, often preparing delicious meals for family and friends who gathered in her home. Lola was known for her nurturing nature, graciously opening her home to relatives in need, ensuring they had a place to stay during challenging times. Her love for fellowship and togetherness was a central theme of her life.

Lola leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memories, including four devoted sons: Daniel Butler (Demetria) of Mesquite, TX, David Butler of Vicksburg, MS, Derrick Butler (Angela) of Dallas, TX, and Deon Butler (Kizzy) of Dallas, TX. She also raised her special nephew, Anthony Crumb, and is survived by her brother, Billy Ray Crumb (Tammy) of Ontario, Canada. Her legacy continues through three beloved grandchildren—Daniel Butler, Jr. of Vicksburg, MS, Taniya Butler of Arlington, TX, and Jatara Griffin in Vicksburg, MS—as well as her beautiful great-granddaughter, Lovely Marie Nelson of Arlington, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many treasured relatives and friends.

Lola is preceded in death by her parents, Ella Mae and Charlie Crumb, and her late husband, Charles Hughes. Additionally, she is mourned by her beloved siblings: Maggie Lean Crumb Thomas, Jesse Dorsey, Johnnie Crumb, Charles Crumb, James Crumb, Carl Crumb, Larry Crumb, and Austin George Crumb.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on December 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS. A funeral service will be held the following day, December 20, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Lola Mae Crumb Hughes will be remembered not only for her service to others but also for her unwavering love and support for her family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
