Larry Collins, a beloved figure whose life was a tapestry woven from strength, loyalty, and profound love for family and community, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on March 1, 1950, Larry's journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to serve and uplift those around him, a legacy that will live on in the hearts of many.

After receiving his early education at Kings Elementary, Larry proudly graduated from Rosa A. Temple High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call of duty and joined the United States Army, serving with valor during two honorable tours in Vietnam. This pivotal experience not only shaped his character but also deepened his appreciation for life and the bonds formed with others. Following his military service, Larry joined the Waterways Experiment Station, where he dedicated himself to his work until his well-deserved retirement. Even then, his commitment to helping others never waned; he was known for providing transportation to many individuals throughout the years, a testament to his generous spirit.

Larry's profound faith in Christ guided his steps from an early age, and it was this faith that infused his daily life with meaning and purpose. He embraced the simple pleasures that life offered—sharing laughter with friends and family, and indulging in episodes of his favorite television show, Sanford and Son. His warm spirit, gentle humor, and genuine compassion made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

He leaves behind a devoted sister, Mary Hall, who will cherish his memory deeply. His special friend, Anita Martin of Vicksburg, Mississippi, along with his nieces; Annie (Sally) Collins, and Brenda Egberuare,  nephews; John L. Collins, Tony Collins, Anthony Collins and Andrew Collins, Jr., his stepson Darrell Collins and a host of cousins and friends, including the Williams, Mitchell and Patterson families, who will forever remember Larry’s loving heart and selfless nature, weaving their memories into the fabric of his enduring legacy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John Adams and Adeline Ford Collins, as well as his siblings: Robert Lee Collins, Archie Lee Collins, John Collins Jr. (Sylvia), Annie L. Phillips "Nancy" and Andrew Collins “Lil Bra.” Each of these relationships contributed to the rich narrative of his life, shaping him into the exceptional man we all cherish.

The visitation will take place on March 20, 2026, at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at the same location.

As we reflect on Larry’s life, we remember a man who embodied love, laughter, and service—a true beacon of light. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
