Kenneth’s faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Kenneth Ray Chiplin, endearingly known as "Bill," was born on November 28, 1951, in Fayette, Mississippi. As the first of twelve children to Lee Ruth Payton Houston and one of two to Jessie Clyde Chiplin, Kenneth embraced his role with warmth and responsibility.
Growing up under the nurturing care of his paternal grandparents, James Taft and Rosa Lee Chiplin, Kenneth’s character was forged with strength and humility. His education began in Jefferson County before moving to Vicksburg, where his grandparents' guidance deeply influenced his life's path.
In November 1970, Kenneth's bravery led him to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His honorable service reflected his deep sense of duty and courage.
Kenneth’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. At Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, his spiritual journey flourished. Over the years, he served as an usher, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent, devoted to his faith until his health limited his service.
Life’s joys included his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys and vibrant family gatherings.
He wed Annie Marie Nix, and together they welcomed their cherished daughter, Tamberlane Rochelle, whose presence brought immense joy and pride into his world.
Professionally, Kenneth was known for his dedication as a fireman in Vicksburg, later contributing to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and concluding his career with ERDC after years of steadfast service.
Life’s joys included his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys and vibrant family gatherings where his playful yet profound presence at the domino table became legendary.
On July 4, 2026, Kenneth's journey came to a close, departing as boldly as he lived. Though he leaves this world, his humor, voice, and spirit will continue to resonate with those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Danny and Thelma Peyton; paternal grandparents, James Taft and Rosa Lee Chiplin; brothers, Danny Earl Houston and Charles Houston; and the uncles he regarded as brothers: Alfred Chiplin, Sr., T.
