Josephine Louise Smith, a beloved matriarch and skilled baker, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 75. She was born on February 15, 1950, in the Kings Community of Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she was raised, grounding her in the values of love, family, and community that would define her life.

Josephine dedicated many years of her career to Anderson Tully, from which she retired with a commendable legacy forged through hard work and dedication. Her spirit was not just confined to her profession; it was also reflected in her passion for baking. Known for her delightful homemade cakes, she took immense joy in bringing sweetness into the lives of her friends and family, crafting memories that would linger long after the last crumb was savored.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughters, Bertha Smith and Kim Smith, along with her grandchildren: Durell Smith (Dominique), Terry Smith (Destiny), Jarvis Baldwin (Marveline), and Kelsey Brown. Josephine is also survived by her sister, Theresa Smith, her brothers Marvin Smith and Tyler Smith (Melva), and her son-in-law, Wayne Walker, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Alongside them are six great-grandchildren who will carry forth her legacy, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. Additionally, she held dear the companionship of six special friends: Gladys Smith, Ruth Roby, Essie Hanger, Alice Bailey, Ann Carter, and Carrie Mae, who were integral to her rich tapestry of life.

Josephine's departure is deeply felt by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dinah and Milton Smith, her sisters Susie Williams and Tamzella Smith, and her brothers Desi Smith, Kenny Ray Smith, Milton Smith Jr., and Jerry Smith, who now welcome her with open arms.
