Listen to Obituary

John Earl Wallace, Sr., affectionately known to friends and family as "Moon," was born on August 17, 1979, and departed from this world on January 8, 2026. His life, though far too brief, was filled with tenderness, love, and devotion that touched the hearts of many.

John grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he completed his education through the Vicksburg Warren Public School System before furthering his studies at Hinds Community College in Utica, MS. From an early age, he demonstrated a passion for learning and a deep appreciation for life, qualities that he carried with him throughout his years.

He is survived by his devoted wife of twelve years, Shayla Bell-Wallace, who stood by his side with unwavering support and love. John was not only a loving husband but also a dedicated father to his beloved sons, Otis Wallace and John Wallace Jr. He embraced his role as a father to Shedarian Bell, nurturing her with the same care and affection he showed his own children.

John was a cherished son, leaving behind his father, John Jones, who instilled in him the values of hard work and kindness. His legacy continues through his loving siblings: sister Charlene Wallace; stepsister Latoya Gibson; and brothers Joe Wallace, Joseph Harris, Peter Harris, Jermeine Dorsey, Jermall Townsend, D’Juan Covington, and Jarvis Jones.

John found great joy in his nieces, Shandrea Wallace, Tyraneicia Wallace, and Autumn Harris, and he adored his great-niece, Dream Ward, reminding all who knew him of the importance of family bonds and the pure love that can come from them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Darlene Wallace, whose memory he carried within his heart, as well as his maternal grandparents, Geneva and Charlie McGowan. John also deeply mourned the loss of his paternal grandparents, Alice Marjurie Jones and John “Mickey” Jones, alongside his uncle, Robert “Bobby” Jones. The love of his aunts—Shirley B. Smith, Ola B. Wallace, and Annie Bell Burden Smith—remains a cherished part of his memory, as does the connection to his cousins, Shanell Burden, Michael “Tiger” Robinson, Alton Burden Sr., and Roderick Burden.

A visitation will be held in honor of John's memory on January 23, 2026, from 1 PM to 6 PM at the C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. His funeral service will take place on January 24, 2026, at 2 PM, also at C J Williams Mortuary Center.

John Earl Wallace, Sr. lived a life that was a true testament to love, resilience, and family. He will be deeply missed, but the impact he made on the lives of those around him will forever remain in their hearts. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love of his family and friends who have gone before him.
