John Henry Jones, born on January 5, 1941, passed peacefully on November 14 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, passion, and love for his family. John was as a contractual painter and proudly retired in 1990. He was renowned not only for his dedication to his craft but also for his multitude of skills, with a particular specialization in mechanical repair. John's great passion for cars was a defining feature of his personality, exemplifying his hands-on approach to life and work.
He is survived by his beloved children: Nicole Jones-Smith of Port Gibson, MS; John H. Jones, Jr., of Vicksburg, MS; Sylvester Jones (Charlotta) of Edward, MS; Patrick L. Jones (Angela) of Vicksburg, MS; Charles E. Jones (Kimberly) of Port Gibson, MS; Kimberly H. Thomas of Vicksburg, MS; Tomeka Fields of Atlanta, GA; Sherika Guise of Vicksburg, MS; Deshawndric Parker of Vicksburg, MS; and Tonya Jones of Texas.
John also leaves behind three brothers: Billy Ray Dillard of Louisiana; Eddie Lee Jones of Nevada; and Joe Bob Jones of Texas. He is survived by two sisters, Nancy Trackling-Daniels of Louisiana and Ruby Benard of Texas; a special brother-in-law, Earl Jackson (Laura) of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Aressa Dillard and John Henry Jones, his six siblings; and his youngest son, Cory Dewayne Jones.
John Henry Jones will be honored during a Funeral Service on November 19, 2023, at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church, located at 2715 Alcorn Drive, Vicksburg, MS 39183. The service will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories that will be shared in remembrance of a man who dedicated his life to his family and his work.
