Jimmie Lawrence Liggins, a cherished and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026. Born on April 3, 1939, Jimmie lived a life marked by love, service, and deep connections with those closest to him. His steadfast character and caring spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his lifetime, Jimmie remained dedicated to his family and nurtured strong bonds with his loved ones. He served honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his commitment and sense of duty. Those who knew him will remember his wisdom, kindness, and the countless fond memories created with family and friends.
Jimmie is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Hattie Turner Liggins, who stood by his side with unwavering support. He was a proud father to his sons, Jimmie Liggins, Jr. and Raymond Liggins, both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, who carry forward his legacy of love and resilience. His sisters, Betty Hamberlin Morgan (William) of Raymond, Mississippi; Jannie Liggins, Mildred Liggins, and Melva Liggins Walker, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, continue to honor his memory.
His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandsons—Sandy Eric Thomas, Adonis Liggins, and DeAngelo Liggins—who brought joy and pride to his later years. He held a special place in his heart for his nieces. Forever faithful and beloved, his fur baby, Rocky Liggins, was a comforting companion during his life.
Preceding Jimmie in death was his beloved mother, Luminda Hamberlin of Vicksburg, Mississippi; father, Jesse Liggins of Port Gibson, Mississippi; brother, Raymond Edwards Hamberlin of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and sister, Carolyn Liggins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their memories are treasured and live on within the hearts of the family.
A Memorial Gathering to honor Jimmie Lawrence Liggins will be held on June 13, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the remarkable life of a man whose caring spirit touched many.
Jimmie’s legacy of love, generosity, and wisdom will forever remain a guiding light to his family and all who encountered his kindness. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the warmth and strength he brought to their lives.
