Jessie Pinkney

Jessie Pinkney, a beloved member of the Vicksburg community, was born on December 11, 1956, and departed this life on August 10, 2025. He was a dedicated and self-employed landscaper for numerous years, cultivating both beautiful gardens and lasting friendships throughout his career. Jessie’s contributions to the community and his artful touch in landscaping will long be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Educated in the Vicksburg Public School System, Jessie was deeply rooted in his hometown, where he fostered connections with many. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Annie Marie Pinkney of Vicksburg, and his wife, Dorothy Pinkney of Southaven, MS. He is also survived by his daughters, Lakisha Pinkney of Vicksburg and Catrice (Travis) Daniel of Southaven, MS, as well as a stepdaughter he raised as his own, Patricia Anderson of Vicksburg, MS. His brother, LeVon Pinkney Sr. of Vicksburg, also survives him, along with several nieces, including a special niece and caretaker, Shaquita Pinkney, and numerous nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Jessie's family ties extended to many friends, including the Dotsons and Hunters families, who each held a special place in his heart.

Preceding him in death were his father, Archie Burnett; and his brothers, Bobby Pinkney and James Earl Pinkney. Also remembered fondly is his special companion of many years, Irene Morant, whose memory he cherished.

A visitation will be held in his honor on August 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180. The funeral service will take place the following day, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow until noon. Jessie Pinkney's legacy will continue to flourish through the love and memories shared by those he leaves behind.
