George Leon Parson

George Parson, born on May 1, 1956, in Vicksburg, MS, departed this life on May 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and hard work. He enjoyed a fulfilling career with General Motors in Detroit, MI, where he made significant contributions during his time there.

George received his education in the Vicksburg Public School System, which played a significant role in shaping the man he became. He was known for both his work ethic and his commitment to his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Kristin (Sammie) Benson of Detroit, MI; grandson, Sameo Harris; granddaughter, Kendah Harris of Detroit, MI; brothers, Willie (Isabelle) Parsons and John (Betty) Parson, Jr., of Vicksburg, MS; sisters, Annie Mae Houston and Dorothy Stewart of Vicksburg, MS; stepsisters, Evangelist Carolyn (Alex) Jackson of Vicksburg, MS, and Joyce (Clifton) Harris of Omaha, NE; stepbrother, Earl Liggins of Omaha, NE; uncle, Joe Kelly Parson of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of other family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Venessa Vosha Benson; parents, Pearlie Parson Hogan and John Parson; son, Derrick Johnson; and his beloved sisters, Barbara Jean Parson, Carolyn Ann Parson, and Frances Marie Parson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Earl Parson; stepbrother, Willie James Liggins; aunt, Jennefie Parson Stewart; and cousin, Janice Martin Chaplin.

Family, friends, and all whose lives George touched are invited to a visitation at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, MS, on May 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Following this, a celebration of life will be held in his honor on May 24, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at the same location. George's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
