Fred B. Carter, Jr.

Fred B. Carter, Jr., a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 1, 1952, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, he was a cherished member of the community who left a lasting impact on those around him.

Fred was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he spent his formative years until the age of 20. His journey began in a loving home with his parents, Rosa Mary Carter McKnight and Fred B. Carter, Sr., who instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Following his education, Fred embarked on a career that would see him become a respected employee of Sears Roebuck before he transitioned to Atwood Chevrolet, where he worked diligently until his retirement.

He is remembered by a devoted family who will carry his memories forward. His son, Frederick Carter, resides in Vicksburg, MS. He is survived by his sisters: Yvonne Tribble of Gulfport, MS; Louise Jones of Columbia, SC; and Terrie Carter Moore of Vicksburg, MS. His brothers, Tony Carter of Minneapolis, MN, and Sherman Carter of Atlanta, GA, also hold him in their hearts as they cherish the times they spent together. Fred's legacy continues with a host of family and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Mary Carter McKnight, and his father, Fred B. Carter, Sr. He is also mourned by his sister, Rose Lee Carter, and his brother, Bobby Carter. Each of them contributed to the man he became, and they are missed dearly.

A memorial service to honor Fred B. Carter, Jr. will be held on February 14, 2026, at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS, starting at 4:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome to gather as they celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on all who had the privilege to know him.
