Deborah Denise Williams, a beacon of strength and love, passed away on March 1, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on May 21, 1959, Deborah carved a path of excellence throughout her life, shining brightly in every role she embraced.
Deborah's professional journey was marked by a distinguished 34-year career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC). Throughout her tenure, she made significant contributions to the field and earned numerous honors and distinctions, culminating in her well-deserved retirement in 2017. Her dedication and commitment to her work were an inspiration to colleagues and friends alike.
An accomplished individual both academically and personally, Deborah was the first in her family to attend and graduate from college. She set the bar high, graduating as Salutatorian of her class at Mississippi Valley State University in 1981. Her academic achievements laid a foundation of ambition and excellence for subsequent generations, instilling a belief in the power of education and perseverance.
Known for her unwavering convictions and steadfast faith in God, Deborah was a stalwart and rock for those fortunate enough to know her. She exuded strength, wisdom, discipline, and determination—qualities that left a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered. Her love for family was profound and unshakeable, and she nurtured those bonds with unwavering devotion.
Deborah is survived by her devoted son, Demerick Terrell Williams, and her beloved granddaughter, Nyla Denise Williams, who will carry forward her legacy of strength and grace. She leaves behind three siblings: Roger Clarence Meeks, Shelia Diana Meeks, and Stoney Lee Meeks (Sabrina), along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Lee Meeks (née Peaches), her father, John Eddie Williams, her stepfather, Louis “Sonny Boy” Meeks, Jr., and her sister, Jacqueline Meeks.
As we celebrate the life of Deborah Denise Williams, let us remember her not only for her achievements but also for the heartfelt connections she cultivated throughout her journey. A visitation will be held on March 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, MS. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Church of Christ Holiness USA on March 8, 2026, 2:00 PM.
Deborah's legacy is one of love, determination, and faith—a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
