Cynthia Louise Peters Hunter, a radiant soul who brought music and joy to many, left this world on November 23, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on February 9, 1960, Cynthia's journey began in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1978. Her high school years were marked by remarkable achievements, memorable roles in countless school plays, and the spirited camaraderie of the cheerleading team.

For 30 years, Cynthia dedicated herself to the Warren County Courthouse, where she served as the Senior Chancery Court Administrator for the Ninth Judicial District. Her leadership and commitment were exemplified by her roles as Past President and Past Treasurer of the Mississippi Court Administrators Association. Cynthia’s professional career was but a glimpse into the rich tapestry of her life, defined far more by the love she fostered and the music she shared.

Cynthia's love and passion for music were evident from an early age, having accepted Christ at a tender age, she began to play the piano at just 15. Her innate talent transformed her into a gifted psalmist and choir instructor. She served faithfully in ministry for many years, filling churches across Mississippi with her joyous spirit and anointed music. As a cherished member of musical groups such as The Angelics and the Christian Women’s Choir, Cynthia directed and played for numerous choirs, blessing innumerable services, celebrations, and memorials with her soulful melodies.

She is survived by the light of her life, Emmitt D. Hunter, along with his children, Erica Brinkley and Dorwin Dewight Hunter. Cynthia's warmth will forever resonate in the hearts of her mother, Ms. Thelma Peters; her aunts Bessie Mae Sayles, Annie Mae Sayles, and Mary Ann Coffee; and her beloved niece Felecia Peters and nephew Antonio Peters. The love and connection extended to include her special cousin Mary Coffee, her brothers Michael Wilson (Lisa), and Eddie Woodhouse (Connie), alongside Michael’s children, Imani Wilson and Michael Wilson, Jr., and Eddie’s children, Keisha Newsome, Eddie Jones, Freddie Woodhouse, Don Rico Nelson, and James Woodhouse.

Her spirit is also carried by her cherished friends, Joannie Smith and her God daughter Nataki Houston-Jones, along with a host of family and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Ms. Henrietta Peters; her father, Charles Wilson; her stepmother, Mamie Wilson; and her brother, Anthony Peters.

As we gather to celebrate her life, family and friends will honor Cynthia's contributions and enduring spirit. Visitation will take place on December 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, followed by a Celebration of Life on December 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greater Grove Street M.
