Connie Wells

Connie Wells, born on August 26, 1937, passed away on April 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love. Throughout her life, Connie was an entrepreneur who owned several cleaning companies before embracing retirement. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her passion for gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with her cherished family.

Connie's vibrant spirit and warmth made her a beloved figure to many. She created lifelong friendships as she lived in diverse places around the globe, including Albuquerque, NM; North Dakota; Michigan; California; China; the Philippines; and Thailand. Her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life enriched her life and those around her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Tasha Wells of Vicksburg, MS, and her son, Venice “Chaing” Wells of Seattle, WA. Connie was also the proud sister to her brothers Neil Gross of Mexico and Thomas Gross of Panama. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Melvina Wells Phillips of Jackson, MS, Melanie Graham of St. Augustine, FL, Jordan Wells of Ohio, and Jaden Wells of Seattle, WA. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren Winter Vines, Ivy Vines, and Jerold Lowery, all of Vicksburg, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Naomi and Adrian. Connie will be remembered fondly by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her kindness and grace.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Mosely and Nealy Gross, as well as her three sisters: Gertrude Mitchell, Louberta McGowan, and Mary Jones (Sister). She was also preceded by her brothers Fred Jones, Darryl Gross, and Nealy Gross (June), and her beloved grandson, Herbert Lee Norfort Jr. (Maury).

A Memorial Service to honor Connie Wells will be held on May 24, 2025, at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street in Vicksburg, MS. The service will begin at 2:00 PM  providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather together and reflect on the beautiful life that Connie lived.
