Catherine Bright, a cherished member of the Vicksburg community, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Born on August 8, 1956, Catherine lived a life marked by dedication, service, and unwavering faith.
Catherine accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Number 4 Church and later became a devoted member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an usher. Her spiritual commitment was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her interactions and providing strength throughout her years.
Professionally, Catherine was a dedicated and hardworking woman who faithfully served her community as an accounting clerk at the Warren County Courthouse until her retirement. Beyond this role, she was an enterprising businesswoman, owner and operator of Bright Tax Services. Through her business, Catherine assisted and uplifted many families within the community over the years, demonstrating her compassion and dedication to helping others.
Catherine cherished time spent with her family and friends, creating memories filled with love and laughter. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her devoted children, Latasha Bright-Pollard (David Pollard) and Lashaunta Bright (Kacy Jones Sr.); five grandchildren, Kayla, Kris (Jermasia), Kaitlin, Kai’Mya, and Kacy Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren, Ke’marrion, Malayah, Kamilah, Kaicen, Kaisley, Kaine, and Khylar, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Wali Aziz Sr. (Charlie Jean) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Eddie Bryant (late Doug Sr.) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Brenda Bright of Gulfport, Mississippi; Peggy Winters (James Sr.) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Silas Bright III (Rosie Mary); James Clyde Bright of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Walter Osborne of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her loving aunt, Sadie B. Pampley of Vicksburg, Mississippi; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen Douglas Bright and Silas Bright II; her son, Adrian Bright; and her brother, Jimmy Bright.
Family, friends, and community members will gather to honor Catherine’s life and celebrate her enduring spirit. Visitation will be held on April 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C J Williams Mortuary Center, located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi. A Celebration of Life service will follow on April 4, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church, 2715 Alcorn Drive, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Catherine Bright’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love. Her contributions to her community and the warmth she brought to her family and friends leave a lasting imprint on all who were blessed to know her. She will be remembered with profound respect and affection.
