Arthur Alphonse Hicks, Sr., a revered spiritual leader, met his eternal rest on February 20, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on August 5, 1963, he graced this world with a profound commitment to faith, family, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.
Reverend Hicks answered his divine call to ministry with unwavering dedication, embodying strength and wisdom that inspired many. His journey through life was marked by his steadfast faith and loving spirit, aspects that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a proud member of the Vicksburg High School Class of 1981 and played for the Vicksburg Gator football team, experiences that shaped his formative years and instilled in him values of teamwork and perseverance.
Though he excelled in his spiritual pursuits, Reverend Hicks also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. This time spent in service to his nation only further fueled him for nurturing and guiding others, be it through words, prayers, or the fine example of his own life.
He will forever be remembered as a man who touched countless lives, offering love, support, and guidance. His memories will live on vibrantly within the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his beloved children: Arthur (Keila) Hicks, Jr., Jordan Hicks, and Shakita Smith. The joy of his life continued in the laughter of his grandchildren: Peyton, Brooklyn, Saydi, Harlem Hicks, A’muni Nicole Hicks, Mackenzie, Zaylee, Koah, Kade, Kane, and Kennley Smith.
Reverend Hicks also leaves a cherished family that includes a devoted stepfather, Marion Green, Sr.; a loving stepmother, Hattie White; and siblings Douglas (Phyllis) Sanders of Jackson, Mississippi; Dayatra (Tromale) Guy of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Marion Green, Jr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Jeanine (Ricardo) Hutchins; Pamela (Miguel) Curb; Julia (John) Anderson; and Robert White III. His memory will also be treasured by his esteemed Aunt Jurline Howard of Detroit, Michigan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
His journey through life was not without its sorrows, as he was preceded in death by his mother, the late Lurline H.S. Green, and father, the late Robert White, Jr., as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. His sister, Angela Gage, also preceded him in death, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life and legacy will take place on March 1, 2026, during a Funeral Service at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Friends and family are welcomed to gather and pay their respects, reflecting on the indelible mark Reverend Hicks has left on their lives.
As we reflect on the remarkable life of Arthur Alphonse Hicks, Sr., we are reminded of his unwavering faith, profound love, and compassionate heart. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire, a testament to a life well-lived in the service of others.
