Annie Louise Turner, fondly known as Lou, was born on October 25, 1954, in Utica, Mississippi to the parentage of Ida Thomas and Joe George Thomas. With a beautiful spirit and loving heart, Lou transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2026, at Merit Health River Region.
Lou's commitment to her community was marked by her excellent customer service skills. She was a person who never met a stranger and had an extraordinary talent for lighting up any gathering. Her warmth, joy, and positivity left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lou's personality radiated love and kindness, celebrating the gift of friendship and connection throughout her life.
Education was important to Lou. She attended Rose A. Temple in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she was known for her bright spirit and eagerness to learn. Throughout her life, she embraced her faith, having accepted Christ at an early age and being baptized at Second Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Lou's legacy will continue to thrive through her cherished family members. She leaves behind her daughter, Tiffanie Turner; her son, Charles Turner; a granddaughter, Jakesa Wilson; a grandson, Corshaun Turner; a great-grandson, Jacen Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Draya Brown. Lou also leaves her four brothers: Louis Thomas, Robert Thomas, Porter Thomas, and Jerry Thomas, all residing in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Additionally, her four sisters—Katie Thomas, Doris Thomas, Carolyn Ross, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Catherine Henderson of Crystal Springs, Mississippi—were important parts of her life. She is further survived by a host of family and friends, including special friends Gertrude Brown, Cathy McGowan, Theresa Haggard, Dominique Brown, and Rose Hunter.
Lou was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Mae Thomas; father, Joe George Thomas; oldest son, Christopher Derell Thomas; one sister, Laura Ann Thomas; and three brothers, Joe Thomas, Jr., Aaron Thomas, and Edward Thomas.
Visitation for Annie Louise Turner will take place at C J Williams Mortuary Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on February 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on February 28, 2026, at Travelers Rest Baptist Church, also in Vicksburg, at 2:00 PM.
Lou's loving spirit and vibrant personality will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
