Annie Pearl Standfield Hall, a cherished soul who graced our lives with her warmth and spirited essence, departed this world on September 3, 2025, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. Born on September 30, 1949, Annie was a vibrant spirit whose took her across various cities the United States and even abroad, ultimately making her home in Augusta, Georgia, where she spent her final days.
Annie's early education blossomed in her hometown of Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she attended Bovina and Cedars schools before moving on to Rosa A. Temple High School. It was during these formative years that Annie discovered her passion for basketball, showcasing her talents as an outstanding player. Her high school coach, Eugene Jackson, remarked years later that “If the WNBA had been around, she would have been a star!" Such accolades reflected not only her athletic prowess but also the determination and heart that defined her.
The tapestry of Annie's life was woven with rich experiences and cherished relationships. She was a loving and devoted wife to Mayceo Hall for 45 beautiful years, whose unwavering support was a cornerstone of her life. Annie was a dedicated mother to her sons, Carlus E. Jackson of Chicago, Illinois, and Andrew (Toni) Jackson, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as to her daughter, Rita Jenee Hall, of Augusta, Georgia. She embraced her role as a stepmother to Maria Paige of Anniston, Alabama, and Melissa Hall of Columbus, Georgia, nurturing each stepchild with love.
Annie's legacy continues through her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Her granddaughters, Avery Hall, Eboni, Sydney, and Brittney Jackson, and her grandson, Brandon Owens, were beams of light in her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Annie's close-knit family also included her brothers, Charles Elmore, Donnie Elmore of Vicksburg, George Elmore of Columbus, and Albert (Martha) Elmore of Killen, Texas; her sisters, Johnnie M. Elmore, Janet Darden, and Mary R. Elmore of Vicksburg, and Gloria J. Elmore of Jackson, Mississippi; and her beloved aunt, Alma Moore of Vicksburg. Additionally, she held dear her sister-in-law, Dr. Carrie Walker (Reverend Jimmie Walker) of Moseley, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were lucky enough to share in her life.
While Annie may have left us, her spirit lives on through the many memories and conversations shared with those who loved her. As we navigate the days ahead, we are comforted by the beautiful memories of her laughter, resilience, and unyielding love.
